Oh the Mittens

I knit the thumb of mitten one.  It was done.

It looked like some freakishly long thumb — I could fit my thumb in there.

So I ripped it out.  I was already halfway done with the second mitten and I couldn’t take it any longer.

I followed the directions.  I don’t understand where I went wrong.  Perhaps I’m just not able to decode what is being said in the pattern.

My thinking was if I cannot figure out what the pattern is asking me to do, then I’ll steal the thumb off another pattern.

I should be able to finish the second mitt tonight.  Then I’ll worry about these thumbs.
